Raymond was born in Hastings, East Sussex in 1978. He first discovered ceramics in 1996 at Hastings College of Art and technology whilst studying for a B - Tec foundation in art and design. In 1997 he moved to Wales to study for a BA in ceramics at West Wales School of the Arts graduating in 2000.

Raymond uses a simple and repetitive process to create sculptures which are inspired by elegant forms often seen in nature. His work has a strong sense of order but appears organic and is a study of how organised patterns such as spirals appear in the natural world.
